My baby boy is growing up!

C took his first steps on his own on August 21st. We are so excited for him! He has so much more freedom now. His walking gets better everday. It is so fun to see his expression when he is walking. You can tell he is proud of himself. C went for his 1 year check up today, and everything went well. He weighs 21 lbs and is 29 inches long. Wow! It is so hard to imagine that only a year ago he weighed 6lbs 6ounces and was 20 inches long.

11 months

C is 11 months old. WOW only a couple of weeks until 1 year. I can't believe it. What an amazing year it has been.

Summer

We have had a great summer seeing family, traveling to see family and friends, and watching C grow. To start off the summer we traveled to Texarkana and C and I went to Dierks for the annual Luau bunco! We stayed and visited with Fairy Godmother Julia and had lunch the next day with Andrea and Reed. After that we sent some fun time with Nena and Papaw in Texarkana. Our next adventure was to Houston to see Uncle Brian and Aunt Betsy. Chris was also preaching a wedding for his seminary roommate. While we were there we got to visit with C's Great Uncle Bill and Great Aunt Linda. We had a good time playing in the pool, shopping, and relaxing the rest of our time in Houston. Also Mimi and Pops came several times to visit. When Mimi was here we worked on painting and cleaning different parts of the house.

C went swimming several times this summer. I think he is going to love to swim. He wants to take off on his own. We also played with the water hose outside at home. Church has been busy with VBS and other summer activities. We are also starting a Mother's day out program in the fall. I am heading that up. Please pray for this program. We hope that it will be an outreach ministry for our church. Ok I have been getting in trouble for not posting pics of Little Man, so here they are.

He is cruising around all the furniture.

so sweet!

One of my favorite times of the day. He is so fun right after he wakes up from a nap.

Chris surprised me with an overnight trip for our 4th anniversary. We went to Jackson, Mississippi and stayed at the Embassy Suites ( one of my favorite hotels b/c of the big breakfast in the morning) We spent the day in Jackson shopping and ate dinner at a yummy italian place named Biaggi's. On Friday we did more shopping and went to see The proposal at the movies. It was a funny movie. The trip was a wonderful getaway. It was the first night we were both away from C, and it was greatly needed. I have a wonderful husband.

Splish Splash taking a bubble bath!

C is very interested in the fridge. Anytime we open it he comes as quick as he can.

Catching Up

From now on, I will be referring to my son C to protect his name. It has been crazy lately with moving. Therefore, the blog has suffered. I hope that this post catches you up to speed. The biggest news in the past couple of weeks is that C has learned to scoot. He is not crawling yet, but is getting around pretty well scooting on his belly. This video is of the 2nd time he scooted. He is much faster and more proficient now. Yes he is chasing his medicine bottle. He always wants what he can't have. Funny how that works, huh!

Chris and I went horseback riding with some church friends at a nearby state park. We had a great time. I think the last time I was on a horse was in fifth grade. It was an interesting and exciting experience. My horse was Scooby. She was old, gently, and chubby, which made the ride more rough than usual. Chris had a pure bred race horse that would not run so they bought here and just ride her for fun.

C took his first ride on his car toy several weeks ago. He loves to be outside. As soon as he realizes how to use his feet to push him he will be unstoppable.

Cool dude!

Saturday C swam in his frog pool for the first time. He was more interested in getting to the water hose than playing in the pool. I can't wait until he can swim in a real pool. I love to swim and I hope he will too.

Gotta love the hat!

Parent Dedication/ Mother's Day

My first Mother's Day was very special. It started out with Parent/ baby dedication at church. It was a neat time to dedicate ourselves to raise C to the best of our ability according to the teachings of God. C was tired and cranky because he didn't get his morning nap, but we made it through. I thought he looked very cute in his green and white seersucker froggy overalls! After church we had lunch at at our house. My parents were able to be in town with us. Lunch was yummy. We had spinach artichoke dip, farmhouse chicken, and cake. After my parents left C gave me my mother's day present. I got a card to get a pedicure, a travel mug( with C's pics on it) and cute card signed by C. Chris said he had a hard time getting C to sign the card. He was more interested in holding the card, then letting Chris hold the pen in his hand. Luckily C only had one mark on his leg from the pen. That situation could have gotten pretty messy. It was a wonderful day!

Mother's Day Cake

I attempted cake decorating again on Mother's day. Yes, those are flowers not grapes. I feel better about this cake than the Easter cake. I guess ever little bit of improvement helps. Maybe by Cade's birthday in September they will be a lot better. I hope so!!

Fun with Friends

This past weekend we were able to go to Benton, Ar to visit some dear friends of ours. We had dinner together on Friday night. Chris grew up with Phillip and Tony, and I believe was a suite mate in college with David and Matt. We took a picture of all of the moms and kiddos. It was funny because just a couple of years ago this party would have looked quite a bit different.

From Left to right: Dayle and K, Me and C, Allyson and "P," Sarah and Z, Carrie and S
K was kissing on C and he had no clue what was going on.

They had just met each other here, but by the end of the weekend they were friends. It was funny how they seemed to be in their own little world. They would babble back and forth ignoring us. We had a wonderful time this weekend and are so thankful for the opportunity.
